New Years Resolutions: Dance Edition 2019

2019 is officially here: Time to think about what we want to achieve in the new year!


Here are three resolutions I’m making for the new year.







1. More Stretching



I feel like this is always on a dancer's list, but this year I'm committing myself to increasing and, more importantly, maintaining flexibility. Just because I'm standing in front of the class doesn't mean I get to slack off on those splits!


Since being specific helps you keep your goals, I'm committing to stretching every morning for 10 minutes, and before class for 20 minutes.



2. Keep an Organized Dance Bag



Most of the time, I have a place for everything in my dance tote. However, when the pressure and time crunch of performance seasons come around, I tend to let my organization slide in terms of the dance bag. This ultimately means I waste more time trying to find exactly what I'm looking for right before a rehearsal, which is time I would much rather spend artistically.


3. Add Healthier Snacks to my Dance Bag



If I don't remember to pack a snack, sometimes I'm guilty of stopping for some fast food or prepackaged food loaded with salt and sugar. And eating like that just doesn't make me feel good. So this year, I am committing myself to filling my fridge and bag with healthy (or at least healthier) choices like carrots, veggie chips, peanut butter crackers, and more.
