My 2018 Dance Playlist

2018 has been full of great hits, especially for choreography. Here were my top five songs to jam out to this year!

1. Modern/Lyrical : Waves - Dean Lewis

After seeing this amazing performance on this season of World of Dance, I haven't been able to get this song out of my head! It's a beautiful song full of flowing melodies perfect for a top-notch lyrical dance.

2. Ballet: Libertango - Astor Piazzolla

Nothing warms my heart and gets me motivated to put on my pointe shoes like a good string quartet, and this arrangement of Astor Piazzolla's Libertango is a beautiful take. It helps you break the mold of the overly sweet ballet pieces and offers a fantastic opportunity for a more serious piece.

3. Jazz: Feels Like Home - Sigala

This was the soundtrack to my summer! It was a great way to kick off the new season of dance and keep the feeling of summer alive throughout the beginning of the school year. (Plus it's just plain fun!)

4. Tap: Hit The Road Jack - Throttle

A fantastic blend of old and new, this is a great song for mixing classical and contemporary choreography. It also comes with a great tempo!

5. Pre-K: If Animals Danced - Bounce Patrol

Stick with me on this one...it's a great alternative to playing the same freeze dance games over and over. This one allows kids to perform their own interpretations of alliterative animal actions (How would you do the Jellyfish Jiggle?) and it's a fast-paced song to get those wiggles out.

What were your favorite dance songs of 2018? I'd love to know in the comments!
