As competition season hits full-swing, we have the tendency to focus all of our energy on our performances, our teammates, our teachers, our dancers. But it's also important to remember that to perform at our best, we have to also step back and care for ourselves.
It seems counter-intuitive. I have so much to do, I can't step away! I just have to keep pushing harder so that it all gets done!
But when we keep making ourselves work past our breaking point, it leads to a decrease in creativity, higher frustration, and ultimately burn-out.
